HON. SOSU’S MADINA JOB CENTER ORGANIZES CAREER COUNSELING CLINIC FOR SHS STUDENTS
On the 26th of May 2021, 250 Form 1 and 3 students of the West African Senior High School (WASS) benefited from a Career Counseling Forum organized by the Madina Job Center in collaboration with 3GC Incorporated.
The Objectives of the Career Counseling Forum was to guide students in managing aspirations in career decision making taking into consideration one’s strengths, careers in demand and community activism.
The forum informed students about labor markets, main aspects of decision making and strategies to gaining work experience whiles in school. The Forum saw questions from students being answered by experts on the panel. Of all questions asked, the most asked revolved around students being eager to know how to combine personal career aspirations with expectations from parents. Responses from the panel guided students to remain in the shadow of parental guidance whiles researching in collaboration with parents on the advantages and disadvantages of career options in both suggested areas. Students were encouraged to take on internships and career learning opportunities in aspired career options so as to be better informed about realities in that aspired career choice.
Upon evaluation of the forum a partnership is being fostered with the school to support the career learning experience of students in skill related courses including Agriculture (fish farming), Catering, Fashion Design, General Arts and Science, just to mention a few.
